Chordiality joined with two other West Yorkshire choirs for a celebratory concert as part of the National Association of Choirs annual conference, which, this year, was held in the Wakefield.
Tadcaster’s Riley Smith Hall was booked for the evening concert and Chordiality’s singers sang alongside the Leeds Male Voice Choir and The Rodillian Singers from Wakefield with each choir performing its own repertoire.
All three choirs put on an excellent show for the audience of delegates and guests with Chordiality offering an exciting and well-executed programme to close the first half.
The choir opened with Henry VIII’s Pastime With Good Company followed by Eric Whitacre’s Sing Gently, the traditional folk song There’s Nothing Like Pilchards For Saving The Soul and Ola Gjeilo’s The Rose. To finish, the Bradford singers raised the roof with The Heavens Are Telling from Haydn’s oratorio The Creation and concluded with Richard Smallwood’s gospel showstopper Total Praise.
Music Director Peter Sherlock was delighted with his choir’s performance: “In what was a varied programme of contrasting styles, the singers performed with great attention to detail and beautifully-controlled singing throughout,” said Peter.
“It was very rewarding to hear an appreciative response from the audience when it was announced that we would be performing Fauré’s Requiem at Bradford Cathedral in the summer. The applause at the end of our performance were a tribute to the choir’s hard work, execution and delivery.”
