Concert raises £1315.29 for children’s charity

As the singers now set their sights on their two Christmas performances, there is just time to dwell on the sensational fundraising concert in Yeadon where Chordiality took centre stage… and it wasn’t just the singing that was a success!  The marvellous evening event raised a staggering £1315.29 for the international charity Mary’s Meals, which was selected by the organisers at St Peter and Paul Church.

Mary’s Meals was founded in 2002 and today it works tirelessly to provide daily meals to 2.4 million children in some of the poorest countries in the world.

By keeping running costs to a minimum, engaging with local farmers and using an incredible network of volunteers, Mary’s Meals is able to provide nutritious school meals for children where hunger and poverty prevent them from gaining an education.

The charity is delighted to say that it can provide a meal for a child for just 10 pence!  Just £19.15 can feed a child for a whole year.

The church’s organisers were delighted with outcome.  “We enjoyed an evening of fantastic music and the money raised will save the lives of 68 children and give them health, education and the hope of a future,” said lead organiser June Heatley.

Chordiality’s Music Director Peter Sherlock was also unreserved in his praise: “It was a wonderful concert and the singers all richly deserved the standing ovation.  It was a joyful occasion throughout and another concert that I will remember for a long time.”
