The concert, at St Mary\u2019s and St Monica\u2019s Church, was an enjoyable fundraiser for the St Vincent de Paul Society.\u00a0 A total of \u00a32059 was raised for the charity, whose work focusses on tackling poverty and loneliness by visiting the sick, providing material assistance and hosting community and social events.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A few changes were added to the Chordiality programme of works by contemporary composers, however, the audience\u2019s responses, as at the previous concert in Otley, was the same\u2026 they loved it!<\/p>\n\n\n

Chordiality\u2019s Music Director Peter Sherlock praised the singers for their focus throughout and for producing a beautiful collective sound; a choir at one with its performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThere were a number of highlights in the programme,\u201d he said, \u201cbut, for me, Ola Gjeilo\u2019s Lux Beata Trinitas<\/em> probably best illustrated the singers\u2019 control and was absolutely fabulous.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThroughout the programme, there were a number of pieces where the choir reached a new level of technical precision, discipline and delivery. We performed Seal Lullaby<\/em> and Resolution<\/em> better than I have heard the choir sing them before and Wellerman<\/em>, although unaccompanied, was so just together and precise.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n The choir took the audience with them with magnificent performances of You\u2019re The Voice<\/em>, led by soloist Liz Leonard, and the BBC Proms commissioned-piece The Gathering Tree<\/em> by Rachel Portman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Talent throughout<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n On the day, a number of choir members added to the programme with their own solo performances.
