popular works by contemporary composers.\u00a0 Highlights on the day will be the dynamic <em>Sogno Di Volare<\/em> by America composer Christopher Tin, <em>Exsultate Jubilate<\/em> by Sir Karl Jenkins and <em>The Gathering Tree<\/em> by award-winning English composer Rachel Portman (pictured).<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft size-full is-resized\"><a Jubilate<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Sir Karl Jenkins\u2019s <strong><em>Exsultate Jubilate<\/em><\/strong> is his choral adaption of the <em>Allegretto<\/em> movement of his earlier and famous orchestral work <em>Palladio<\/em>.\u00a0 The choral addition was written in 2014 and is widely praised for its lifting and infection energy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><em>The Gathering Tree<\/em><\/strong> is a sweeping choral adventure penned by Rachel Portman who was the first female composer to win the Academy Award for <em>Best Original Score<\/em> for the 1996 film <em>Emma<\/em>.\u00a0 <em>The Gathering Tree<\/em> was commissioned by BBC Radio 3 and premiered at the 2025 <em>Last Night Of The Proms<\/em>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The driving rhythm of Christopher Tin\u2019s <strong><em>Sogno Di Volare<\/em><\/strong> (in English \u2018The Dream of Flight\u2019) is adapted from the writings of Leonardo Da Vinci on his fascination with flight.\u00a0 It grabs the attention from the off as it literally flies towards its resounding climax. \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=nAYtztCJvr0\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"283\" height=\"279\" src=\"https:\/\/chordiality.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Christopher-Tin-conducts.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2138\" neatly-syncopated composition <em>Rhythm<\/em> and Ola Geilo\u2019s beautiful <em>Lux Beata Trinitas<\/em> which will feature the choir&#8217;s soprano Alexandra Stevens on flute.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Making a welcome reappearance in the programme will be Eric Whitacre\u2019s <em>Seal Lullaby<\/em> and the magnificent <em>Sure On This Shining Night<\/em> by Morten Lauridsen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Old favourites <em>(Dem) Dry Bones<\/em> (Mark Hayes), <em>Sit Down You\u2019re Rocking The Boat<\/em> (Mark Brymer) and the popular folk song <em>Wellerman<\/em> (C McLeish)
