{"id":207,"date":"2020-07-03T22:10:15","date_gmt":"2020-07-03T21:10:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/robin.chordiality.com\/?p=207"},"modified":"2021-09-23T16:21:38","modified_gmt":"2021-09-23T15:21:38","slug":"choir-releases-its-first-lockdown-single-albeit-online","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chordiality.com\/index.php\/2020\/07\/03\/choir-releases-its-first-lockdown-single-albeit-online\/","title":{"rendered":"Lockdown recording"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The choir is pleased to announce the release of its first lockdown single, with more to follow. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chordiality members have been meeting regularly on Sunday evening for a \u2018virtual sing\u2019 using the remote conferencing platform, Zoom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite some technical drawbacks, a good time has been had by all, not least in being able to see one another, catch up and enjoy a good sing. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The weekly get-togethers now follow a regular format and such has been their success that Chordiality decided to take things a step further and produce a recording of members singing together, but in isolation.&nbsp; The John Rutter favourite&nbsp;<em>A Prayer Of Saint Patrick<\/em>&nbsp;was selected as the piece to record.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-style-default\"><figure class=\"alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=9hvYJsUhU-M\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"320\" height=\"244\" src=\"http:\/\/robin.chordiality.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/lockdown-image.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-177\" srcset=\"https:\/\/chordiality.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/lockdown-image.jpg 320w, https:\/\/chordiality.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/lockdown-image-300x229.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 320px) 100vw, 320px\" \/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Each choir member recorded themselves singing their respective part and then the singers were sewn together by sound technician, and friend of the choir, Richard Reeday.&nbsp; Richard\u2019s work was incredible and the end result sounded just like the choir had sang together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI chose&nbsp;<em>A Prayer Of Saint Patrick<\/em>&nbsp;because it is relatively short, just one minute, 15 seconds long, and Rutter\u2019s delicate harmonies would be nicely balanced across each section of the choir,\u201d said Music Director Peter Sherlock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI then sent all the singers a recording of me playing the piece on the piano and they recorded their individual parts to it.&nbsp;&nbsp;When I listened to what Richard managed to create, it was amazing.&nbsp;&nbsp;We are very much indebted to him for his work.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chordiality now has plans to record more pieces and will start soon with&nbsp;<em>As Long As I Have Music<\/em>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The choir is pleased to announce the release of its first lockdown single, with more to follow. \u00a0 Chordiality members have been meeting regularly on Sunday evening for a \u2018virtual sing\u2019 using the remote conferencing platform, Zoom.
