\u2018What a superb concert\u2019 was a phrase echoed by many who gathered at Bradford Cathedral to hear Chordiality\u2019s summer gala concert when the choir performed with the National Festival Orchestra and Cathedral Organist Graham Thorpe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under the baton of Chordiality\u2019s Music Director Peter Sherlock, the choir, orchestra, and organist brought forth a tremendous performance to a varied and difficult programme in a packed Cathedral.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The highlight of the programme was the performance of Gabriel Faur\u00e9\u2019s sublime Requiem Mass<\/em>, which was performed alongside another Faur\u00e9 favourite, Cantique De Jean Racine<\/em>.  The delicate yet lifting quality of the Requiem\u2019s<\/em> choruses were executed to a disciplined and high standard.<\/p>\n\n\n

The second half was no less of a triumph with the choir, orchestra and organ again delighting its audience with a series of choral classics.  The popular works including The Heavens Are Telling<\/em> from Haydn\u2019s oratorio The Creation<\/em>, Verdi\u2019s famous Chorus Of The Hebrew Slaves<\/em>, John Rutter\u2019s For The Beauty Of The Earth<\/em>, from Handel\u2019s Messiah,<\/em> the final chorus Worthy Is The Lamb<\/em>, and Caccini’s Ave Maria<\/em> which featured flautist Rosie Walsh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over 270 people attended and a retiring collection raised \u00a3882.42 for Chordiality\u2019s current adopted charity, Bradford Metropolitan Food Bank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cA superb and joyous evening\u201d was how Peter Sherlock described the choir\u2019s flagship event for 2025.  \u201cThe concert covered a wide range of complex choruses,\u201d said Peter.  \u201cAll were executed, by choir, soloists and orchestra, to a very disciplined and high standard.  Feedback from many in the sell-out audience clearly showed how much they appreciated and enjoyed the varied programme and how well the music had been performed.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
