Written by the composer as a musical tribute to his deceased father, the work comprises some of the most beautiful melodies that Faur\u00e9 ever wrote.&nbsp; Of all seven sections, the&nbsp;<em>Pie Jesu<\/em>,&nbsp;<em>Agnus Dei<\/em>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<em>In Paradisum<\/em>&nbsp;emerge as the most glorious refrains of the piece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To accompany the <em>Requiem<\/em>, the evening\u2019s repertoire will also include such delights as\u00a0<em>The Heavens Are Telling<\/em>\u00a0from Haydn\u2019s oratorio\u00a0<em>The Creation<\/em>, Verdi\u2019s famous\u00a0<em>Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves<\/em> and a bit of Handel\u2019s <em>Messiah<\/em> for good measure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the day, Chordiality is delighted to be joined again by the National Festival Orchestra, under their leader Sally Robinson. &nbsp;The National Festival Orchestra Strings previously performed with Chordiality two years ago again at Bradford Cathedral in a concert to celebrate the choir\u2019s 30th anniversary.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"580\" src=\"https:\/\/chordiality.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/Chordiality-at-Bradford-Cathedral-1-1024x580.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1269\" srcset=\"https:\/\/chordiality.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/Chordiality-at-Bradford-Cathedral-1-1024x580.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/chordiality.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/Chordiality-at-Bradford-Cathedral-1-300x170.jpg 300w, https:\/\/chordiality.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/Chordiality-at-Bradford-Cathedral-1-768x435.jpg 768w, https:\/\/chordiality.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/Chordiality-at-Bradford-Cathedral-1-1536x870.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/chordiality.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/Chordiality-at-Bradford-Cathedral-1-2048x1160.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/chordiality.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/Chordiality-at-Bradford-Cathedral-1-1568x888.jpg 1568w, https:\/\/chordiality.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/Chordiality-at-Bradford-Cathedral-1-24x14.jpg 24w, https:\/\/chordiality.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/Chordiality-at-Bradford-Cathedral-1-36x20.jpg 36w, https:\/\/chordiality.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/Chordiality-at-Bradford-Cathedral-1-48x27.jpg 48w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Chordiality performing in Bradford Cathedral with the National Festival Orchestra Strings in 2023.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>At the concert, both choir and orchestra will be under the baton&nbsp;of Chordiality\u2019s Music Director Peter Sherlock who is delighted to be taking the singers back to the Cathedral for what will be another marvellous occasion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Cathedral has superb&nbsp;acoustics and the sound that resonates within this building will add a significant dimension to a choral piece as sublime and beautiful as the <em>Faur\u00e9 Requiem<\/em>,\u201d said Peter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are thrilled to have obtained the services of the excellent and much in demand National Festival Orchestra and that&nbsp;we will also be joined by Graham Thorpe, the Cathedral\u2019s Organist and Director of Music.&nbsp;&nbsp;Together, choir, orchestra and organ will make for a substantial and enjoyable evening of some of the greatest choral music ever composed.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>To reserve your seats, email chordiality.choir@hotmail.com or contact a member of the choir.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Saturday 12 July at 7.30pm in Bradford Cathedral &#8211;
