About Us

"CHORDIALITY" is a forty-strong, mixed voice choir, based in Bradford, West Yorkshire. The choir started in 1993 as a group of friends. Since then, under the musical directorship of Peter Sherlock, we have performed to audiences as far afield as

  • Cartmel Priory, Cumbria
  • York Minster
  • Bolton Abbey, Fountains Abbey
  • Hubberholme in the Dales
  • Ripponden
  • Sowerby Bridge
  • Selby
  • Bradford’s Cathedral, St George’s Hall, Cartwright Hall

Add to this geographically dispersed list, numerous other venues in the Dales and West Yorkshire, including Keighley, Bingley, Ilkley, Leeds, Huddersfield, Halifax, and you will see, ‘have choir will travel’.

We have been privileged to perform in York Minster’s lofty North Transept. On other occasions we have ‘enjoyed’ the draughty cloisters at Fountains Abbey. But equally, we are at home in smaller churches and chapels. Successfully shoe-horning forty choir members, plus musical equipment and staging between pulpit, choir stalls and lectern has become an acquired art of CHORDIALITY.

We are a non-profit making group, proud that our concerts have supported organisations in raising thousands of pounds for regional and national charities and trusts. Moreover, we have helped raise funds for numerous worthy causes, including church restorations. Most recently, we were pleased to perform at the Brontes’ church of St Michael and All Angels in Haworth to raise funds for essential roof repairs.

Primarily, we are a friendly group from a variety of backgrounds who enjoy singing together and socialising both in rehearsals and in performance. Our ‘mission’ is to share our enjoyment of choral music and to widen people’s perception of choral singing in all its glorious variety.

Through the leadership of our musical director, we have sought to challenge our singing experience and we now have an extensive repertoire ranging from full works to pieces lasting little over a minute. Each concert we give incorporates something for all tastes – sacred and secular, ancient and modern, serious and not so serious, popular and classical favourites - and all types in between ! We also have some accomplished soloists to help ring the changes.

CHORDIALITY, can claim to be as versatile as it is well-travelled !
